It is a masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance. Created from 1501 to 1504. It stands a colossal 17'. This biblical David holds a sling that is draped over his shoulder and down to his right hand which holds the handle of the sling. It was done as a result of intense anatomy studies. Michelangelo was only 26 years old. David is based on the account of the battle between David and Goliath told in Book 1 Samuel. The David Sculpture transmits exceptional self-confidence and concentration. These are both values of the thinking man. Considered perfection during the Renaissance.
