Description
Here we have a beautiful hand made, carved wood Silver Shiner made by, Frank Brogan out of Port Huron, Michigan. Circa 1940's. Frank Brogan is a recently discovered old-time decoy carver, who was actively making decoys around the same time as Isaac Goullette and regarded as a peer. Indeed one can often pick up on similarly made details in the two carvers styles. Presenting with painted metal fins, painted silver across the belly, sides, and across the back. She has a beautiful large Lake St. Clair type wood tail, a curved body, and an understated elegance typical of Fish of the region. 4 1/4" long. The Fish is in good condition, with the appropriate signs of use or wear. There is once again a set of back fins being set at a latter date by the carver. The Fish has a fine mellow patina appropriate to its age. A Gem from Michigan. I'm adding a small packing and handling fee.
