Description

Here we have a wonderful and rare old rainbow Trout Fish Decoy out of Michigan, made by a carver unknown to me. Circa 1950's. This larger Fish, measuring 9", is painted a light white across its belly, and up the sides light green and red-browns are blended, ultimately ending with a green across the back. Then over this green; yellow, white, black and red dots are rhythmically applied across its back for abstracted trout markings, gills and mouth are carved and accenting in red or black, as are the eyes. This great Fish is a treat in every way, with a comical and fantastic form, having an original classic working paint finish, mixed in with possible fisherman over-painting in areas, (possibly the white belly? I see a filler-patch area, and additional paint near the dorsal fin...) Minor paint loss in areas, but all intact with ware and patina appropriate to the use and age of the fish. A Gem indeed.
