<![CDATA[<div>This is a horse head sculpture by the Italian Artist Amilcare Santini ( 1910-1975 ) With a heavy marble base, this can be displayed on its own as a sculpture, or used as a bookend. Santini played a key role in developing a technique that blends marble, alabaster, and resin. This mixture is poured into molds crafted by Santini. Once it hardens at room temperature, the figure is removed and meticulously finished by hand, adhering to the ancient Italian traditions passed down from the great marble masters. The marble and alabaster used are sourced from the quarries near Volterra. Santini sculptures are known for representing some of the highest quality museum-grade sculptures worldwide. These replicas from Italy are among the closest you can get to original hand-carved marble sculptures. CONDITION: One tiny chip on the tip of left ear and very tiny chip bottom base corner as seen in the close up photos. Otherwise, in very good vintage condition with no other chips or cracks noted.
