What we have here is: Vintage A marble-white finish sculpture of King David, 6.25", unsigned and a 6" pedestal for his highness to rule on. If you look at the tree stump behind the original statue of David, it is only halfway up his leg. The majority of reproductions have a stump which goes up the length of his leg, these are considered later versions. Cast Alabaster statues are made from a material in which natural crushed Greek Alabaster stone is mixed with a small quantity of resin that works as a glue. Alabaster was very widely used for small sculptures in the ancient world, especially in Ancient Greece, Egypt and Mesopotamia. Impressive look.
