Description

Here we have a beautiful hand made, carved wood Sucker Fish, Michigan made. Circa 1950's. Presenting with painted metal fins and tail, and carved gills and mouth. The Fish is painted a lighter yellow across the belly and rising up the sides, this yellow has dappled olive green laid over a light grey, and increasing in intensity across the back, as it blends into a brown and deep red. The technique of sgraffito has then been applied to the wet darker paint to simulate an abstracted scale patterning. 11" long. The Fish is in very good used condition, with signs of light use or ware, and a patina appropriate to its age. All original and intact. A Beauty from the North Woods.
