Description
The original "Spinario" sculpture from antiquity has attracted praise ever since the Renaissance, and copies in bronze and marble can be seen in art museums all over the world. This palm-sized copy was hand carved from Italian alabaster, and the only clue to its age is the price of 3500 lire on the bottom. My guess is that it dates to about 1905. It's very well carved with gentle features and a graceful, well sculpted body. This little statue is in excellent condition. Its more exact height is: 4.75" on a 2.5" x 3" oval, marble base. Weight: 13 oz. I guaranteed that this is real alabaster and real marble -- not a modern, "composite marble" (resin) copy.
