Description
Nice vintage hand forged fishing spear using the Fred Drexler technique of using the "wedge/key" to tighten the tines in place on the center post/tine….see photo 4 closeup. Tines average about 8". Fred Drexler was a famous spear maker from Brainerd, MN from about c.1890's until 1920's. This wedge/key technique was used before welding became available and /or widely used. Measures 23" and is well made. Who knows....could be a Drexler piece. Very few of his spears were signed and are highly desirable because of this fact. Sold as is as shown. This is a great example of hand forging all the way around. The hollow rolled end is made for a 1 1/16" diameter wood spear pole.
