Description
Here is a very unusual and collectible fish decoy from southern Minnesota. It's style is very reminiscent of the old copper decoys and it would have been used in the same way. I do not think that the maker has ever been identified but it is not a stretch to believe that one of the makers of the old coppers like Slechta or Booth may have made this decoy. It is 9 3/4" long and has tooled gills and mouth. The eyes are inset, faceted red jewels with tooling around each eye. The condition is beautiful and original with no damage or repairs. The varnish has taken on a nice golden tone and this fish was either never used or used very lightly. Over the past 30 years of dealing in fish decoys, this is probably only the fourth or fifth one I have seen so they are pretty rare. I automatically combine shipping on items that end the same day so please wait for the invoice before paying. No Reserve.
